As part of my newsletter, The Breakthrough Letter, every week I send out a short email with one idea, one suggestion, and one resource to help you break through your breakup and create a new possibility for love, either with your ex or someone new.
Here’s this week’s edition. Enjoy.
Today’s Idea:
True confidence isn’t about bravado and faking strength or about diminishing others so you can maintain a sense of comfort and security. True confidence is simply being vulnerable and having comfort and security regardless of what others say or do.
In other words… a confident person does not shy away from expressing what they feel or think, nor do they feel a need to prove that they are right — on the contrary; they are simply comfortable with the fact that they may be wrong.
Today’s Suggestion:
Find an area of your life where you’re afraid (or even terrified) to admit the possibility that you may be wrong. It could be health. It could be work. Or even — gasp! — romantic relationships.
Once you find this area, find someone trustworthy that you respect, and just admit the possibility that you may be wrong about some aspect of it. Ideally, you will find that people will trust and respect you far more for admitting this, than if you’d simply acted as if you were 100 % sure about whatever you’re actually afraid of admitting you may not be so sure about.
Today’s Resource:
How To Rebuild (Or Build) Self-Esteem After A Breakup — an article unpacking the nature of self-esteem (arguably the top determinant of confidence) and listing a handful of therapy-approved solutions for improving it.
As always, feel free to reply to this email and let me know what you think. I’ll do my best to get back to you promptly.
Until next time,
Max Jancar
