Business Doings:
- Taking an actual risk. For the past year, I’ve been struggling in my business — not financially, but existentially. Without realizing it, market pressures pushed me toward video content and the influencer route. I admit, I pursued it purely out of fear of becoming irrelevant, but I’m burnt out now and tired of putting myself out there constantly. So I’m done playing this game. As an experiment, I’ve stopped making video content entirely and removed existing videos from my website. I’m returning to what I actually signed up for years ago: being a writer. This means more thoughtful articles, better newsletters, and more frequent book updates. Hope you’ll enjoy the new direction.
- Simplification. To focus more easily on writing, I quit many of the things I was previously involved in. I already mentioned stopping the video work, but there’s more. I also stopped coaching people one-on-one and completely redesigned my email marketing system, making it much less sales-oriented and far simpler to manage. What this means for you is fewer automated sales emails and more manual emails that aim to teach, inform, entertain, and (hopefully) help you.
- Product updates. I am doing a giant update of all my books and courses, practically remaking them from the ground up. It should be done by early 2026. Really excited about it!
Personal Doings:
- I’m taking reading more seriously. For the past year, I was so focused on business growth that I rarely sat down to read.
- I’m in my third year of learning Russian. Hopefully, by the end of 2025, I’ll be high-conversational or C1. Once I achieve that, I’ll probably start learning German.
- I’m learning how to cook better. My favorite resources so far are Fallow and CookWell.
- I’m taking care of my guinea pigs, Chewie and Katyusha.
- Like last year, I’m still actively working on gaining muscle through mainly barbell focused compound movements. I’m following the Starting Strength method with some minor adjustments made by my coach. Current 1×5 PR’s at 177 height and 85kg in weight: squat 120kg, deadlift 130kg, bench 85kg, press 45kg.
- I took a deep dive into politics. While sometimes frustrating, it’s been a lot of fun so far. My current position is pretty much that of a typical social liberal.
- Bought my first home with my girlfriend of 7 years this January. Just moved it recently. Loving it so far.
- Decided to eventually have kids after years of hating the idea and hating kids in general.
